I aim to provide the support you need to feel empowered and respected during your birth. I think this is the best thing I can do to set you up for success as a new parent: to empower you, to trust you, and to support you.
Prenatal: My hope is that we would have time to meet in person at least twice. I'd love to get to know you so that I can provide the best support. During this time I could help you define your birth wishes, provide information on proper fetal positioning, practice comfort measures and talk through your questions and/or feelings .
During labor and delivery: I will be present from the time you ask me to come until the baby is born to support emotionally, suggest position changes and comfort measures, remind you of birth wishes and informed decision making.
Postpartum: I will follow up with you in the days following birth and we will have a meeting within two weeks to process your birth experience.
"Continuous support during labour may improve outcomes for women and infants, including increased spontaneous vaginal birth, shorter duration of labour, and decreased caesarean birth, instrumental vaginal birth, use of any analgesia, use of regional analgesia, low five-minute Apgar score and negative feelings about childbirth experiences." (Bohren, Meghan A et al. 2017)
I live in Colchester, VT and support births at UVM, Northwestern Medical, Porter, CVMC, or home births with a licensed midwife in attendance.
